Maintenance schedule
Toyota Maintenance Schedule by Mileage
Official Toyota owner's manual intervals next to the shorter intervals recommended for harsh Gulf conditions, with notes on each item.
Toyota's owner's manual lists a base service interval plus a shorter schedule for what it calls severe operating conditions: high heat, dust, frequent short trips, and stop-and-go traffic. In Saudi Arabia and the Gulf those conditions apply to most cars nearly year-round, so both columns are shown side by side.
| Item | Official interval | Severe conditions (Gulf) |
|---|---|---|
| Engine oil & filter (0W-20 full synthetic)Older engines on conventional 5W-30: 5,000 km officially. | 10,000 km / 6,000 mi or 12 months | 5,000 km / 3,000 mi or 6 months |
| Tire rotation | 10,000 km / 6,000 mi | 8,000 km / 5,000 mi |
| Engine air filter | 40,000 km / 25,000 mi | 20,000 km (15,000 km in dusty areas) |
| Cabin air filter | 25,000 km or 12 months | 15,000 km / 9,000 mi |
| Brake inspection (pads & rotors)Actual replacement usually falls between 40,000 and 60,000 km depending on driving style. | Inspect every 10,000 km | Inspect every 8,000 km |
| Brake fluid | 40,000 km or 3 years | 30,000 km or 2 years |
| Super Long Life Coolant (SLLC)Check level and colour at every summer oil change. | First change at 160,000 km or 10 years, then every 80,000 km | 80,000 km or 5 years |
| Spark plugs (iridium) | 100,000 km / 60,000 mi | 80,000 km / 50,000 mi |
| Automatic transmission fluid (WS)Toyota calls the fluid lifetime, yet sustained heat shortens it in practice. | “No scheduled change” — inspection only | 60,000–100,000 km when towing or in hot climates |
| Differential & transfer case oil (4WD) | 40,000 km / 25,000 mi | 30,000 km with off-road/sand use |
| Serpentine drive belt | Inspect at 40,000 km, replace at 100,000 km | Inspect every 30,000 km |
| Battery | Test every 10,000 km, 4–5 year life | Real-world 2–3 years in Gulf heat |

Frequently asked questions
How often should I change Toyota oil in Saudi Arabia?
The official interval for 0W-20 full synthetic is 10,000 km or 12 months, but Toyota's own severe-conditions schedule drops to 5,000 km or 6 months, which fits Saudi heat, dust, and traffic.
Is Toyota transmission fluid really lifetime?
Toyota sets no change interval for WS fluid and asks for inspection only. In practice heat and towing accelerate oxidation, so most shops advise a change between 60,000 and 100,000 km in hot climates.
When should the pink coolant be changed?
First change at 160,000 km or 10 years, then every 80,000 km. In hot climates move it up to 80,000 km or 5 years and check the colour regularly.
How long does a Toyota battery last in the Gulf?
Toyota assumes 4–5 years, but Gulf summer heat cuts real-world life to 2–3 years, so have the battery tested at every oil change after year two.
