- Break the lug nuts loose a quarter turn with the car down, then lift at the approved jack point — never random body metal.
- Swap the wheel, tighten the lugs evenly in a star pattern, lower the car, then re-torque properly (80–100 lb-ft for most cars).
- If using a sealant kit: inject the sealant and inflate, then drive 3–5 miles at moderate speed to distribute it, and stay under 50 mph.
- Visit a tire shop the same day: a temporary donut spare is limited to 50 mph and about 70 miles total.
